Ingredients 4 persons
2 large ripe tomatoes
250 ml tomato ketchup
2 tablespoons sambal (we use Badjak Pedis)
1 large onion
1 red pepper
1 clove of garlic
2 tsp cumin powder
Juice of half a lemon.
Skin the tomatoes (cut the cross on the butt and in boiling water for 30 seconds), remove the seeds and finely chop the pulp and put it in a bowl. Add the ketchup to the tomatoes.
Finely chop the onion, garlic clove and pepper and add. Add cumin powder and sambal and mix well.
Vary, for example, by using less or more sambal, or by adding coriander powder, or even fresh coriander. A little sugar makes the sauce a bit sweeter. With some smoked paprika powder the sauce gets a bit more of a grill flavor. Instead of a "normal" onion, other types of onions can also be used.
Also tastes great with doner kebab and grilled meat, for example. Guaranteed success at a barbecue!
